Roster Shuffle:
John Lackey will start on Wednesday for the Angels at
home vs. the White Sox.
Johnny Cueto was rocked again on the road, this time by
the Mets. He lasted only 4.2 innings allowing 5 earned on
11 whip with 5 k's. For the moment Cueto needs to be active
only when he pitches at home.
Brittle Harden returned to action getting pummeled by
the Rangers. He only lasted 3.2 innings, yielding 5 runs
on 12 whip with 5 k's. The office pool has Harden on the
DL before the plane lands in Oakland.
Francisco Liriano had a good outing at Trip-A Rochester
hurling 6 complete with 2 earned, 7 whip, 5 whiffs stretched
out over 91 pitches. He's getting there slowly but surely.
Both Zambrano and Randy Johnson were scratched due
to bad weather.
John Smoltz soft tossed with no pain and is rarin' to go.
He'll get an inning or 2 in the minors and could be back
over the weekend.
Rich Hill had a serviceable start in Triple-A Iowa going
5.2 innings with 0 earned, 7 whip and 8 k's. He'll be back
in the Cubs rotation soon so if you need SP help and Hill's
a FA this is worth watching.
Eric Gagne has lost the closer gig for now although Yost
is still committed to have him work the 9th once he gets
straighted out. Mota, Torres and Shouse have been
mentioned as members of the committee. Yost used
Torres in a save situation yesterday but had to bail him
out with Shouse who got credited with the save. PE likes
Mota to emerge as the closer if Gagne stays funky.
Manny Ramirez sat last night with a sore hamstring. It
doesn't appear to be serious but it is worth noting. He
did pinch hit in the 9th.
Rafael Furcal sat again on Sunday. He's certain to return
on Tuesday, right? Check the Dodger box before activating
him.
Freddy Sanchez is still battling a sore shoulder but it affects
his throwing more than his hitting. Be aware if you're spot
playing him.
Josh Willingham took BP yesterday and is still feeling pain
in his lower back. It looks like next week for the "Hammer".
Interleague play begins next Friday. Plan for it as DH's like
Thome, Thomas, Sheffield and Hafner could miss some or
all of the weekend's action.
Streamers: (tomorrow's probable starters available as free agents)

Kyle Lohse- gets the ship righted after listing badly during
his last 2 outings. 2-0, 1.76/.99 with 18 k's in 25 frames vs.
the Bucco's.
Spotties: (tomorrow's position players available as free agents)

Daily Activity:
Strategy: Yesterday was best characterized as postponed.
Games in Cleveland, Detroit and Pittsburgh were rained
out and rescheduled as doubleheaders on Monday for
Toronto/Cleveland and Atlanta/Pittsburgh. Consequently
OP picked up another start with Burnett and now has 11
scheduled for the week against 12 for PE. OP and PE have
6 SP's through Thursday. Burnett will be joined by Wang
for OP and opposed by PE's Harang and Buchholz today.
PE has 2 closers on Monday where OP effectively has
none even though both relievers are active as Gagne has
been demoted for now and Heath Bell is Hoffman's set-up.
OP with V-Mart and Rios having 2 starts will have 9 active
with PE having 8 thanks to Teixeira and Escobar getting
2 plays each. With this level of symmetry in the lineups
and rotations it will be fairly easy to get a read on the
game on a daily basis. No moves are planned at the
moment pending Roberts status for Tuesday. Also,
Benjie Molina left his game after getting hit by a pitch.
Losing Molina would be problematic for PE.
Game Keys: Harden was benched at 3pm with Shawn Hill
leading 4-2 with 2 outs in the 7th. Hill completed the 7th
only to have the Nationals bullpen lose the game. Hill was
outstanding going 7ip/2e/5w/3k. Harden was staked to a
4-0 lead but was getting hit very hard early on by the
Rangers. He could only manage 3.2 innings yielding 5
earned on 12 whip. Obviously this would have been a
disaster for PE whip. Batista did beat the White Sox
again even though he had 13 whip. The postponements
hit the OP hard as he ended with only 4 active players
on offense. PE took advantage of having 6 starters and
scored 7 runs to take the point. Ryan Braun hit 2 home
runs to carry the category for PE helping PE to register
an 8-2 victory.
^ -designates an active player on today's roster.
Final Thoughts:
PE is in 3rd place, 7 games out of 1st and 1.5 games behind the
2nd place team heading into week 7.
The Player's Edge participates in many leagues but elected to
follow a team in a Public League to better approximate what might
be faced by a wide majority of players that use the Edge daily. This
team plays in a standard 5x5 scoring format and drafted 7th of 12
teams in a 21 round on-line live event in late March. We'll follow this
team throughout the entire 2008 fantasy campaign.
All Done!
