Fantasy Player's Edge

July 1, 2008

Roster Shuffle
:

Aramis Ramirez will miss a total, including last night, of
3 games while tending to family matters in the Dominican
Republic.

Chipper Jones is likely to be placed on the DL with a
sore quad. The injury has not improved and another
week of rest is needed.

Miguel Cabrera left last night's game with a strained
hip flexor. He's day to day.

Andruw Jones will be in centerfield for the Dodgers
when he returns to action. Torre has said that Kemp
and Ethier will vie for PT in rightfield. Both players
but especially Kemp, will lose value when Jones
returns.

Juan Pierre has been added to the DL with a strained
knee. He could be out 4-6 weeks.

Matt Kemp missed last night's contest with an eye
infection and quite possibly will sit out today also.

Eric Byrnes is headed back to the DL with hamstring
issues.

Eric Chavez returned last night from an ailing shoulder.
He went 1/5 with 2 rbi.

Nate McLouth sat out with a sore knee. He's day to
day.

Roy Oswalt was removed from last night's game with
a sore hip.

Brad Penny will pitch a simulated game today and if
all goes well will return to the Dodgers rotation on
Saturday.

Josh Johnson will have at least one more start in the
minors after a disappointing outing. He went 5.2ip
with 5 earned on 12 whip with only 3 k's. He's trying
to comeback from Tommy John surgery.

Troy Percival aggravated a hamstring problem while
backing up home plate. He had to leave the game.

Chad Cordero will have shoulder surgery and is out
for the season.

^ -designates an active player on today's roster.

Daily Activity:

PE Helton(drop)/Hairston-Mon

Strategy: Helton was released for Jerry Hairston
who's eligible at 4 positions including SS. PE had 2
players, Kemp/Griffey, sit out last night so Hairston's
versatility may allow for a few additional AB's this
week. OP has 4 SP's today while PE has 2 SP's on
the bump. A decision on a streaming initiative will
be made after the results of today's games.

Game Keys: PE SP's Harang/Shields combined for
a W and 13 k's with 5 earned, 13 whip in 13.1 innings.
PE closer Cordero also registered a W but Fuentes
blew up allowing 5 runs and 5 whip in .1 inning which
put PE on the defensive, for the 2nd week in a row, in
ERA/WHIP. OP had a save and has 4 SP's today. PE
offense led by spot play Helton held it's own but trails
in HR/Runs. PE Kemp(eye) and Griffey did not start
but Griffey came off the pine to sock a 2 run walk off
jack for the Reds and more importantly, PE. Spot play
Hairston will probably have to fill in for Kemp tonight.
Both squads, if PE Escobar plays, should have 9 active
on offense tonight.

Final Thoughts:

PE is in 2nd place .5 point out of 1st heading into a Week
14 meeting with the 3rd place team.

The Player's Edge participates in many leagues but elected
to follow a team in a Public League to better approximate what
might be faced by a wide majority of players that use the Edge
daily. This team plays in a standard 5x5 scoring format and
drafted 7th of 12 teams in a 21 round on-line live event in late
March. We'll follow this team throughout the entire 2008 fantasy
campaign.
