Fantasy Player's Edge

August 30, 2008

Coming Today!!!!

2008 Fantasy Football Player's Edge (regular season):

http://fantasyfootballplayersedge.blogspot.com

Roster Shuffle:

Evan Longoria
will not return on Tuesday for
the Yankees series. He's likely to be back by the
weekend.

Miguel Cabrera returned to action yesterday
one day after straining a pectoral muscle.

Josh Hamilton left last night's game with tooth
pain from a root canal. He's day to day but there's
been a lot of talk about him hitting the wall in what
has been a remarkable season. They may chose to
rest him periodically down the stretch so check the
Rangers box daily throughout the fantasy playoffs.

Jeff Kent will have an MRI on his sore left knee.

Melvin Mora avoided the DL as his hamstring
strain should only keep him sidelined for a week
at the most.

Victor Martinez, who sat yesterday, will be used
as a spot play initially until Wedge is convinced
that he can handle the grind. You'll have to verify
daily whether he's starting or sitting.

Kevin Youkilis was scratched due to an illness.

Chris Carpenter was encouraged after throwing
a 60 pitch bullpen session. The Cards are mulling
over bringing him back as a reliever this season.

Billy Wagner may not pitch again until later in
the season and only if a playoff berth is at stake.

Jon Rauch has forearm tightness and won't pitch
for a couple of days.

Kevin Gregg has an inflamed left knee and will be
shut down for a few days.

SP's J. Johnson, J. Santana, Sheets, Lester, C.
Young,
Oswalt, R. Johnson, Wainwright, Lee,
Lincecum,
Carmona, Saunders, R. Dempster,
Mussina, Greinke
and Cole Hamels are the likely
candidates for 2 starts this week. (SP's normally start
on every 5th day so starters on Monday/Tuesday are
likely to pitch on Saturday/Sunday respectively.)

SP stream possibilities for 2 starts this week; Garza,
Parra, Kendrick, Maddux, A. Sanchez, Perkins,
Redding and Y. Petit.
Probables are
chosen based
on having a favorable start on Monday or Tuesday.

1042. That's the number of innings used that would
keep you on track to deploy maximum innings (1250)
over the course of the season in Rotisserie. A number
significantly above or below should be a call to action.

Streamers: (tomorrow's probable starters available as free agents)

Use these players to gain advantage in wins and strikeouts.

Greg Maddox- historically pitches well in Los Angeles and
has his old mates from San Diego paying a visit. 9-7, 3.09/

backdrop for this payback game.

Tim Redding- is tough on the Phillies. 4-3, 3.15/1.20 with
40 k's in 60 innings.

Spotties
: (tomorrow's position players available as free agents)

Use these players to fill in for injured players and on off days.

follow this team throughout the entire 2008 fantasy campaign.

Dr. Andrews says.

Rafael Soriano had elbow surgery and should be
at full strength for spring training.

http://fantasyfootballplayersedge.blogspot.com

he can move forward with his rehab. There's still
a real chance that he'll be shutdown for the season.

irritated toe. He's day to day.

Carlos Quentin was given the night off and will be
back in the lineup today.

the race.

Fantasy Player's Edge

August 27, 2008

2008 Fantasy Football Player's Edge Draft Preview:

http://fantasyfootballplayersedge.blogspot.com

Site updated by 11am EST daily.

Roster Shuffle:

Erik Bedard
has no timetable to begin throwing.
He may not return this season.

Johnny Cueto's elbow injury is not believed to
be serious and he's likely to only miss 1 or 2 starts.

Chris Young threw a 65 pitch simulated game
and could return to the Padres rotation on Sunday.

Chris Carpenter is throwing in the outfield but
is still not ready to begin throwing in earnest. He
may not be ready until mid-September.

Josh Beckett is on track to start on Friday.

Francisco Cordero should rejoin the Reds today.
He was spending time with his newborn son.

Brian Fuentes has been placed on waivers. The
Rockies will have 48 hours to make a deal. He may
lose all of his value if he's traded to a team with a
proven closer. Additionally, he has been placed on
the bereavement list. Stay tuned.

Vlad Guerrero missed a 2nd consecutive game.
There's no report of any injury so it's likely that
they're trying to keep him fresh.

Evan Longoria has been cleared to begin hitting
this week.

J.D. Drew and his ailing back have been placed on
the DL.

Austin Kearns has been added to the DL with a
stress fracture in his left foot.

Scott Rolen was activated by the Blue Jays. He
has limited value.

Mike Lowell may begin hitting off of a tee shortly.
He's a week off at the minimum.

Ryan Church is likely to become a starter again
increasing his fantasy value.

Nick Swisher fouled a ball off his leg and had to
leave last night's game. He's day to day.

Streamers: (tomorrow's probable starters available as free agents)

Use these players to gain advantage in wins and strikeouts.

Anibal Sanchez- has a nice track record vs. the Braves.
1-1, 1.80/1.07 in 15 innings. Would be a stronger play at
home.

Dana Eveland- has no history vs. the Twins but returned
to his early season form since being recalled. 1-0, 1.29/.86
with 7 k's in 7 innings in his last start.

Spotties: (tomorrow's position players available as free agents)

Use these players to fill in for injured players and on off days.

John McDonald- old McDonald had a Jackson. 4/9 with an extra.

Corey Patterson- scratches Backe. 4/9 with a jack and a swipe.

Start/Sit: (today)

Guide to using bench players when matchups are favorable.

Aaron Rowand (start)- lashes Livan (doesn't everyone). 6/10,
3 extras and a homer.

Ryan Church (start)- worships Kendrick. 4/8 with a bomb.

Guide to sit starters when matchups are unfavorable.

Normally sit these players in Roto formats only

Edwin Encarnacion (sit)- no answers for Oswalt. 1/13, 8 k's.

Corey Hart (sit)- Wainwright wins. 2/15 with 3 k's.

Studs and Duds: (a recap of yesterday's picks and pans)

Pedro Martinez (stream)- ND 5ip/5e/9w/8k

Greg Smith (stream)- L 6ip/5e/12w/3k

Brandon Inge (spot)- 2/4, rbi

Joey Gathright (spot)- 0/2

Mark DeRosa (start)- 2/3, run, rbi (Snell)

Carlos Delgado (start)- 1/5

Edgar Renteria (start)- 1/4, 2 run homer

Pat Burrell (sit)- 0/7

Torii Hunter (sit)- 3/4, run, rbi

Daily Activity:

OP J.D. Drew(drop)/Schumaker-Sun
PE Dickerson(drop)/Rowand-Sun
PE Rowand(drop)/Cruz-Mon
PE Cruz(drop)/C. Young-Wed

Strategy: PE has only the closers going today vs. SP Adam
Wainwright and 4 relievers for OP. PE made a move today
using Cruz for SP Chris Young. Young, when right, is a low
ERA/WHIP, high K SP. SP Carpenter may not return until
mid-September so Young represents insurance for him. If
Carpenter returns then Weaver will probably be released.
Being on bye next week should allow for all of these options
to play out completely.

Game Keys: PE SP Shields and 1 closer combined to pitch
7.2 innings allowing 5 runs on 14 whip with 7 k's. OP SP Roy
Halladay faced off against Shields and was his usual model
of efficiency. He hurled 6 frames yielding 2 runs on 6 whip
with 7 k's to earn a W. PE offense sputtered going 7/34 with
6 runs, a homer and 6 rbi. OP more than kept pace with a
combined 9/32 with 5 runs, 3 homers, 7 rbi and a steal. OP
leads the match 5-4 at this point.

Final Thoughts:

PE increased the 1st place lead to 16 points over the 2nd place
club and 19 ahead of the 3rd place team heading into Week 22.
PE has won the league and earned a 1st round bye in the playoffs.

The Player's Edge participates in many leagues but elected to
follow a team in a Public League to better approximate what might
be faced by a wide majority of players that use the Edge daily.
This team plays in a standard 5x5 scoring format and drafted 7th
of 12 teams in a 21 round on-line live event in late March. We will
follow this team throughout the entire 2008 fantasy campaign.

2008 Fantasy Football Player's Edge Draft Preview:

http://fantasyfootballplayersedge.blogspot.com

Site updated by 11am EST daily.

Roster Shuffle:

Chris Carpenter
threw a bullpen session yesterday
and is scheduled for a more rigorous bullpen session
on Wednesday. He's tracking for a return by early
September.

Chris Young will throw a simulated game today and
could be activated this week if all goes well.

Johnny Cueto has a strained elbow and will miss his
next start. He'll be reevaluated on Friday.

John Maine was placed on the DL with bone spurs
in his throwing shoulder.

Eddie Guardado has been traded to the Twins. He
has no fantasy value behind Nathan. The Rangers
will turn to Frank Francisco or Joaquin Benoit
as their closer. If you must jump now try Francisco.

Francisco Cordero has left the team to attend to an
undisclosed personal matter. There's no word regarding
his return this evening.

Victor Martinez could return to active duty later this
week.

Travis Hafner had a setback during his rehab stint
when he experienced pain in his right shoulder. He's
been shutdown for a couple of days.

Garret Anderson had an MRI and sat out last night
but did pinch hit implying that he's day to day.

Carlos Guillen was forced out with back spasms last
night. He's likely to sit out today.

Luis Castillo was added to the active roster by the
Mets.

Joe Crede was activated yesterday by the White Sox.

Mike Lowell should be activated by the Red Sox today.

Nelson Cruz has been called up by the Rangers. The
slugging OF was hitting .342 with 37 homers and 99
rbi in the minors. He's worth a waiver if you need OF
or Util power.

Streamers
: (tomorrow's probable starters available as free agents)

Use these players to gain advantage in wins and strikeouts.

Matt Garza- has been amazing at Tropicana Field. 2-2,
2.77/1.04 in 26 frames vs. the Blue Jays and 6-2, 2.72/
1.16 with 56 k's in 76 innings at home this year.

John Danks- does his best work away from home. 1-1,
4.97/.95 in 13 innings against the Orioles and 6-1, 2.54/
1.20 with 61 k's in 74 frames on the road this season.

Spotties: (tomorrow's position players available as free agents)

Use these players to fill in for injured players and on off days.

Brandon Inge- clocks Carmona. 4/11 with 2 extras.

Luis Gonzalez- hits Hampton hard. 14/39 with 5 homers.

Start/Sit: (today)

Guide to using bench players when matchups are favorable.

Carlos Delgado (start)- mashes Moyer. 30/77 with 8 jacks.

Edgar Renteria (start)- loves Lee. 4/11 with 3 extra base raps.

Pat Burrell (sit)- Pedro's puzzling. 1/23 with 9 k's.

^ -designates an active player on today's roster.

Daily Activity:

OP J.D. Drew(drop)/Schumaker-Sun
PE Dickerson(drop)/Rowand-Sun
PE Rowand(drop)/Cruz-Mon

Strategy: PE will send SP Shields and 5 closers, assuming
Cordero has returned to the club, against OP Halladay and
4 relievers. There's no real strategy for this week except
to evaluate each day and use the Rowand spot to either
stream or spot play if appropriate. Minor league slugger
Nelson Cruz was added as a spot play for Thursday. PE
is playing to win this week but not at all costs.

Game Keys: PE SP's Liriano/Cain/Weaver and 3 closers
combined to pitch 22 innings allowing 6 runs on 21 whip
with 17 k's while earning only 1 Save. PE offense sputtered
going 5/31 but because of the early pitching advantage PE
leads 5-3.

Final Thoughts:

PE increased the 1st place lead to 16 points over the 2nd place
club and 19 ahead of the 3rd place team heading into Week 22.

2008 Fantasy Football Player's Edge Draft Preview:

http://fantasyfootballplayersedge.blogspot.com

Site updated by 11am EST daily.

Roster Shuffle:

John Maine
has bone spurs in his right shoulder
and may be shut down for the season.

Johnny Cueto left after the 3rd inning with a
strained right triceps. The severity of the injury
should be made available today.

Max Scherzer will recalled when the rosters are
expanded on the 1st. He's likely to pitch out of the
D-Backs bullpen.

Derrek Lee sat out yesterday due to neck/back
spasms.

Lance Berkman was a late scratch with a painful
left hamstring.

Dan Uggla was benched for lapses in the field on a
couple of double play balls on Saturday.

J.D Drew is likely to be headed to the DL with back
problems.

Nate McLouth was still on the Pirates bench with a
viral infection. He did pinch hit so he's close to returning.

Garret Anderson tweaked a knee and had to leave the
game yesterday. He's day to day.

SP's Lilly, Billingsley, Galarraga, Meche, Liriano,
Haren, Peavy, Cain, Zambrano, Floyd, Lee, Lowe,
M
oyer, Pettitte, Jurrjens, Halladay, Sheets, Webb,
Shields,
Martinez, Greinke and Lackey are the likely
candidates for 2 starts this week. (SP's normally start on
every 5th day so starters on Monday/Tuesday are likely
to pitch on Saturday/Sunday respectively.)

SP stream possibilities for 2 starts this week; Richard,
Myers, Braden, J. Davis and G. Smith. Probables are

chosen based on having a favorable start on Monday
or Tuesday.

995. That's the number of innings used that would
keep you on track to deploy maximum innings (1250)
over the course of the season in Rotisserie. A number
significantly above or below should be a call to action.

Streamers
: (tomorrow's probable starters available as free agents)

Use these players to gain advantage in wins and strikeouts.

Pedro Martinez- still available in many leagues. 1-1,
2.73/1.18 with 16 k's in 26 innings over his last 4 starts.

Greg Smith- has been consistently good against the
Angels. 1-2, 2.70/.94 in 23 frames against L.A. and 1-1,
1.59/.71 1n 17 innings at Angels Stadium.

Spotties: (tomorrow's position players available as free agents)

Use these players to fill in for injured players and on off days.

Brandon Inge- hammers Lee. 10/27, 2 jacks and 6 rbi.

Joey Gathright- stains Millwood. 5/13, 2 extras and a steal.

Start/Sit: (today)

Guide to using bench players when matchups are favorable.

Mark DeRosa (start)- stuns Snell. 4/8 with an extra base hit.

Aaron Rowand (start)- flogs Francis- 6/8 with 4 mults.

^ -designates an active player on today's roster.

Daily Activity:

OP J.D. Drew(drop)/Schumaker-Sun
PE Dickerson(drop)/Rowand-Sun

Strategy: PE will play semi-aggressively against this OP
out of respect for the other owners vying for playoff spots.
PE spot play Dickerson was dropped for Rowand giving
PE 8 potentially active on offense for Monday vs. 8 for
OP. PE has 3 SP's and 4 closers going today compared to
2 closers and 2 set up relievers for OP. PE has 10 starts
on the roster compared to 5 for OP. PE has wrapped up
1st place overall and a round 1 bye for the playoffs.

Game Keys: PE with unexpected homers from Molina/
Roberts and another blast from Teixeira did just enough
to help the team take a convincing 9-1 win over OP.

Final Thoughts
:

PE increased the 1st place lead to 16 points over the 2nd place
club and 19 ahead of the 3rd place team heading into Week 22.

2008 Fantasy Football Player's Edge Draft Preview:

http://fantasyfootballplayersedge.blogspot.com

Site updated by 11am EST daily.

Roster Shuffle:

Josh Beckett's
next start has been pushed back
from Tuesday until Friday.

Shaun Marcum has been optioned to Triple A
after a poor outing on Friday.

Brandon Morrow is stretching out in Triple A.
He went 4.1 innings allowing 2 hits and struck
out 10 while throwing 73 pitches yesterday. He
should enter the Mariners rotation around the
1st and could be a solid starter for the stretch
run. You may want to pick him up next week.

Chris Young is chafing to pitch again for the
Padres. He should be back in a week or so.

Joba Chamberlain threw 35 pitches off of a
mound. He's still about a week from facing live
hitters.

Philip Hughes allowed 8 runs on 10 hits in 3.1
innings for Triple A Scranton. Obviously he's not
ready for the big show.

Rookie of the year candidate OF David Murphy
took BP and is targeting Sept. 1st for a return.
He was hitting .275 with 64 runs, 15 homers, 74
rbi and 7 steals before going on the DL.

Hanley Ramirez is better but was not ready to
play yesterday. He's day to day so check Florida's
box before benching the All Star.

Ian Kinsler intends to return to action from a
sports hernia on or about September 5th.

Victor Martinez is scheduled to rejoin the Tribe
on Wednesday.

Nate McLouth is still out with a virus but is close
to returning so check the Pirates box today.

Derrek Lee left yesterday's game with back spasms.
He's day to day.

Streamers: (tomorrow's probable starters available as free agents)

Use these players to gain advantage in wins and strikeouts.

Clayton Richard- gaining confidence. He has no history vs.
the Orioles. 1-0, 0.00/.86 in his 1st start since being recalled.

Brett Myers- is still sitting in free agency in many leagues.
3-2, 2.86/1.09 with 55 k's in 72 innings vs. the Dodgers.

Spotties: (tomorrow's position players available as free agents)

Use these players to fill in for injured players and on off days.

Jody Gerut - handles Haren. 5/10, 2 extras and a blast.

Shin-Soo Choo - greets Galarraga. 3/5 with 2 extras.

Start/Sit: (today)

Guide to using bench players when matchups are favorable.

Mike Jacobs (start)- drives Doug Davis. 6/8 with 2 bombs.

Bill Hll (start)- shows Maholm no mercy. 10/17, 5 extras,
2 homers and 7 rbi.

Guide to sit starters when matchups are unfavorable.

Lance Berkman (sit)- no luck vs. Oliver Perez. 1/9, 4 k's

Daily Activity:

PE Marcum(drop)/Blackburn-Sun
PE Blackburn(drop)/Slowey-Mon
PE Slowey(drop)/Taveras-Wed
PE Taveras(drop)/Dickerson-Thur
OP Isringhausen(drop)/Franklin-Sat

Strategy: PE will continue to sit all pitching. OP has
added setup pitcher Ron Franklin for Isringhausen.
PE may be able to clinch a bye in the playoffs by the
conclusion of today's action which would make Week
22's outcome meaningless.

Week 22 OP will make the playoffs as either the 3rd
or 4th place team. OP offense features Vlad Guerrero
and Hanley Ramirez with a supporting cast of Mauer,
Huff, Reynolds, Conor Jackson, Damon and Winn. OP
has some power, good speed and the opportunity to hit
for average. Although there is good balance OP needs 5
or 6 guys to step up each week and perform well. OP
pitching has only 4 SP's, Nolasco, Halladay, Wainwright
and Volstad which makes OP a dangerous opponent in
the playoffs because of the ERA tiebreaker. OP has 2
closers, Soria/B. Wilson and 2 set up relievers Rauch/
Kuo. Obviously, this OP is vulnerable in W/Saves/K
but you'll have to win 3 offensive points because of the
ERA tiebreaker if you want to get by this team in the
playoffs.

Game Keys: OP SP Guthrie had a tough opponent with
the Yankees going 6.2 innings allowing 5 runs on 8 whip
with 7 k's and was denied the W. OP Derrek Lee continued
his afternoon delight going 1/3 with a run and an rbi to aid
the offense in going 8/34 with 9 runs, 2 homers and 8 rbi.
PE offense continues to outperform OP combining for 14/
34 with 7 runs, 3 homers and 9 rbi. Every offensive point
is still in play with PE controlling all of the pitching points.
PE leads 8-2 heading into today's finale.

Final Thoughts:

PE increased the 1st place lead to 12.5 points over the 2nd place
club and 16 ahead of the 3rd place team heading into Week 21.
With only 20 points (2 weeks) left in the season PE will adopt a
streaming strategy while assuring roster integrity heading into
the bye week of the playoffs. If PE goes 4-16 during these final
2 weeks the 3rd place team would need to go 20-0 to tie for 2nd
place.

Daily Activity:

PE Taveras(drop)/Dickerson-Thur

Strategy: PE will continue to sit all pitching pending
the outcome of OP SP Guthrie's start today. It's likely
that PE will simply play passively in an effort to lock
up a first round bye in the playoffs.

Game Keys: OP offense came alive, beginning with
Derrek Lowe's 2/4 homer/steal effort, going 15/39
with 7 runs, 2 homers 5 rbi and 2 steals. PE, with
Braun returning, went 10/34 with 5 runs, 1 homer,
8 rbi and 2 steals. PE is still in the hunt for Runs/HR/
RBI/BA while continuing to lead SB by 5. The match
cruises on down the river with PE clinging impetuously
to a 7-3 lead.

Final Thoughts:

PE increased the 1st place lead to 12.5 points over the 2nd place
club and 16 ahead of the 3rd place team heading into Week 21.

Fantasy Player's Edge

August 22, 2008

2008 Fantasy Football Player's Edge Draft Preview:

http://fantasyfootballplayersedge.blogspot.com

Site updated by 11am EST daily.

Roster Shuffle:

Aaron Harang
is penciled in to start today. Adjust
accordingly if you intend to "gamble" on the Reds
righthander.

Carl Pavano is starting for the Yankees against
the Orioles on Saturday. Steer clear until he proves
out.

Justin Duchscherer was placed on the DL with
an inflamed hip.

Bartolo Colon threw a no hit 4 inning rehab start
at Pawtucket. He'll work again Tuesday for Lehigh
Valley.

Matt Capps should be activated from the DL today.

Hanley Ramirez sat out yesterday with a sore
thumb. X-rays were negative and he's day to day.

Alex Gordon left the game against Cleveland with
a sore quad.

Yadier Molina was rested due to a bruised foot.

Milton Bradley, once again, should return tonight.

J.D Drew is expected to return to the Red Sox today.

Joey Gathright was activated by the Royals from
the DL.

Streamers: (tomorrow's probable starters available as free agents)

Use these players to gain advantage in wins and strikeouts.

Jose Campillo- has a favorable opponent on the road where
he has excelled this season. 0-0, 2.54/1.14 in 7 innings vs. the
Cards and 4-2, 2.13/.87 with 43 k's in 55 innings on the road.

Chris Volstad- seems more comfortable on the road. He has
no history vs. Arizona. 3-0, 1.19/1.10 with 15 k's in 23 innings
away from home this season.

Spotties: (tomorrow's position players available as free agents)

Use these players to fill in for injured players and on off days.

Adam LaRoche - touches up Suppan. 6/15, a jack and 4 rbi.

Jason Kubel - deck the halls!! 8/20 with 3 bombs and 11 rbi
against Garland.

Start/Sit: (today)

Guide to using bench players when matchups are favorable.

Kevin Millar (start)- bags a Moose. 18/41 with 6 extras,
3 blasts and 11 rbi.

J.J. Hardy (start)- no respect for royalty. 9/14, 4 extras,
3 bombs and 8 rbi vs. Zach Duke.

Guide to sit starters when matchups are unfavorable.

Normally sit these players in Roto formats only

Jose Guillen (sit)- vexed by Verlander. 2/16, 5 k's.

Adrian Gonzalez (sit)- Tiny Tim a big problem.
3/16 with 5 k's against Lincecum.

Daily Activity:

PE Marcum(drop)/Blackburn-Sun
PE Blackburn(drop)/Slowey-Mon
PE Slowey(drop)/Taveras-Wed
PE Taveras(drop)/Dickerson-Thur

Strategy: PE spot player Taveras did not play yesterday
and was dropped for Reds rookie OF Chris Dickerson. PE
Braun is due to return today. OP SP's made it interesting
with 2 W's yesterday but PE will not take the bait electing
to bench all pitching today.

Game Keys: OP SP's Lowe/G. Smith pitched very well
but PE maintained an advantage in W/K/ERA/WHIP.
The duo and 1 closer went 13.2 innings allowing 2 runs
on 14 whip with 8 k's while earning 2 W'S for OP. PE's
closers contributed 2 saves and now lead Saves by 3.
PE offense continues to be pesky tying Runs/RBI and
closing the gap in HR/BA while expanding the lead in
SB to 5. OP offense is too talented to perform at this
level and should be infinitely more formidable over the
weekend. With that said PE will play passively for the
pitching points and look to take SB. The match takes
the turn with PE holding a surprising 6-2 advantage.

Final Thoughts:

PE increased the 1st place lead to 12.5 points over the 2nd place
club and 16 ahead of the 3rd place team heading into Week 21.
With only 20 points (2 weeks) left in the season PE will adopt a

2008 Fantasy Football Player's Edge Draft Preview:

http://fantasyfootballplayersedge.blogspot.com

Site updated by 11am EST daily.

Roster Shuffle:

Adam Wainwright
will be activated and start
for the Cards against the Braves on Friday. That
would seem to indicate that Chris Perez will be
the Cards closer for the remainder of the year.

Billy Wagner will be out at least 3 weeks and
possibly for the season with elbow problems. Al
Reyes
was added to the bullpen and could be
used as a situational closer.

Hanley Ramirez had to leave last night with
a thumb injury. The extent of the injury should
be made available today.

Ryan Braun
sat out again with a sore ribcage.
The team is off tomorrow so the real test for
Braun will be to see if he can return on Friday.

Travis Hafner had a couple of hits in his first
rehab start and could be recalled by the Indians
next week.

Ricky Weeks returned after missing a couple

^ -designates an active player on today's roster.

Daily Activity:

PE Marcum(drop)/Blackburn-Sun
PE Blackburn(drop)/Slowey-Mon
PE Slowey(drop)/Taveras-Wed

Strategy: PE has a comfortable lead in W/K and decent
advantages in Saves/ERA/WHIP with 2 starts remaining
(Harang/Harden) on the roster. OP has 4 starts to utilize
including Lowe/G. Smith today, Guthrie and Blanton on
Saturday/Sunday. PE will likely sit Harang as he's been
awful with Harden as insurance if needed should OP make
a run at W/K. Spot play Taveras will remain on the roster
in case Braun does not return on Friday.

Game Keys: PE's trio Liriano/Cain and Weaver combined
with 3 closers to earn 1 W and 1 Save hurling 21.2 frames
allowing 6 runs on 25 whip with 21 k's. OP Meche coupled
with 1 closer were quite effective allowing only 1 run on 3
whip with 11 k's but did not earn a W or Save. OP's offense
stalled somewhat going 7/31 with 3 runs, 1 homer, 1 rbi and
a steal. PE offense, without Braun, was able to muster a 7/26
with 5 runs, 7 rbi and 2 steals. The solid performance by PE
SP's and the 2 stolen bases has allowed PE to take a 6-4 lead.
PE finally registered a save but left a save from Cordero on
the table as he was benched to create a slot for an SP. The
points in Runs/RBI/BA are back in play.

2 weeks the 3rd place team would need to go 20-0 to tie for 2nd
place.
