Fantasy Player's Edge

July 2, 2008

Roster Shuffle
:

Chipper Jones went from being DL inevitable to the
Braves starting lineup last night. Make sure that you
activate him today.

Prince Fielder was a surprise scratch last night with-
out a specific reason. Stay tuned.

Yunel Escobar is due to return today. He's been out
with a jammed shoulder.

Dan Uggla has targeted Thursday for his return from
a sprained ankle.

Rafael Furcal had another setback when he woke up
in pain on Monday. He was sent back to Los Angeles
for tests.

Arizona catcher Chris Snyder was placed on the DL.

Alphonso Soriano will have his final x-rays and tests
this week and could be cleared for BP on Saturday.

Brett Myers has been optioned to Triple A Lehigh to
get his groove back. He went willingly which is a great
1st step.

Felix Hernandez was placed on the DL with a sprained
ankle.

Francisco Liriano had a brilliant start for Rochester going
7 shutout innings with 9 k's and only one base on balls. He
should be on Gardenhire's list to be called up somewhere
in the next few weeks.

Troy Percival was placed on the DL with a pulled hamstring.
Grant Balfour and Dan Wheeler are in line for saves.

Micah Owings is questionable for his Friday start due to a
pulled muscle in his back.

^ -designates an active player on today's roster.

Daily Activity:

PE Helton(drop)/Hairston-Mon
OP Kershaw(drop)/Campillo-Tue

Strategy: Hairston came in handy as Escobar sat
again last night. PE will likely retain Hairston thru
Thursday and then will gauge the pitching points
with an eye towards a possible stream through out
the weekend. OP has begun streaming out of need
as PE leads handily in W's and K's. OP dropped
Kershaw for Campillo. OP is aggressively managing
the offense, sitting Upton, Cabrera, Pierzynski for
Bradley, Chipper Jones and Posada. Obviously it's
going to be a daily battle of strategic roster moves.
PE is playing it close to the vest for another day,
at least, due to advantages in key categories like
ERA/WHIP/SB.

Game Keys: OP had Chipper Jones inactive as he
surprisingly returned to the Braves lineup. OP's
4 SP's did not register a W. OP closer's, however,
had a W and a save. OP's combined pitching line was
a pedestrian 13 earned, 42 whip with 17 k's in 27.2
innings. PE pitching, led by a brilliant performance
from Cain had 2 W's, a save, combining to allow only
2 earned, 13 whip and 19 k's in 16 frames. OP will
send 2 SP's vs. 1 for PE today. PE had 3 steals as
the offenses stalled and are tied in BA at a paltry
.254. Both teams should have full compliments of
9 active on offense today. PE holds a 6-3 advantage.

Final Thoughts:

PE is in 2nd place .5 point out of 1st heading into a Week
14 meeting with the 3rd place team.

The Player's Edge participates in many leagues but elected
to follow a team in a Public League to better approximate what
might be faced by a wide majority of players that use the Edge
daily. This team plays in a standard 5x5 scoring format and
drafted 7th of 12 teams in a 21 round on-line live event in late
March. We'll follow this team throughout the entire 2008 fantasy
campaign.
