Fantasy Player's Edge

July 7, 2008

Roster Shuffle:

C.C. Sabathia has been dealt to the Brewers. In theory, the
move to the National League should enhance his value.

Bobby Jenks had an MRI on his back and left shoulder that
came back negative but still may be placed on the DL just to
be extra careful.

Roy Oswalt has rejoined the team in Atlanta and will make
the trip to Pittsburgh. It's still uncertain whether he'll take
a turn before the All Star break a week from today.

Felix Hernandez should return to the Mariners rotation
either Thursday or Friday.

Ryan Church's dizziness was a result of a migraine and not
the after effects of a concussion. He's was not in the starting
lineup yesterday and is listed as day to day.

Lance Berkman sat out with an eye irritation. He's scheduled
to be examined today.

Milton Bradley left yesterday's game with tendonitis in his left
knee. The extent of the problem is not yet known.

Michael Young sat out with a nagging groin injury. He's day to
day.

Willy Taveras missed a 5th straight game with a sore quad. He
did have a pinch hit so he's getting closer to returning to full time
duty.

Johnny Damon has been placed on the DL, for the 1st time in his
career, with shoulder problems.

Streamers: (tomorrow's probable starters available as free agents)

Use these players to gain advantage in wins and strikeouts.

Jon Lester- is more formidable at home and has a favorable
opponent coming for a visit. 0-0, 3.68/1.23 in 7 innings vs.
the Twins and 4-1, 2.54/1.19 in 60 frames at Fenway Park
this season.

Manny Parra- another young gun who fares better at home.
He's pitched 2 uneventful innings against the Rockies. 5-0,
2.75/1.39 in 52 frames at Miller Park this year.

Spotties
: (tomorrow's position players available as free agents)

Use these players to fill in for injured players and on off days.

5 mults, a jack and 6 ribeyes.

Guide to sit starters when matchups are unfavorable.

Normally sit these players in Roto formats only

of old but Pat the bat will still struggle. 0/20 with 8 k's

Ryan Church (sit)- Eaton will make him even "dizzier".
2/13 with 3 k's.

^ -designates an active player on today's roster.

Daily Activity:

-none-

Strategy: PE sends Pedro Martinez to the hill for a
final time unless he shows signs of regaining his form.
PE also has 3 closers active to 2 closers and setup man
Buchholz for OP. PE has 8 starts on the roster to 7 for
OP while OP has a potential 6 active on offense Monday
vs. 5 for PE. PE will adjust strategy, if necessary, after
Pedro's start on Monday. Optimally, PE would like to
focus on the offense and win the pitching points from
the current roster.

Game Keys: The week long battle with OP has come to
an end with PE emerging in 1st place in the league for the
first time this season after a convincing 7-3 win. The key
point was won in BA by a scant .04.

Final Thoughts
:

PE is in 1st place by .5 point over the 2nd place club and 4.5
ahead of the 3rd place team heading into a Week 15 meeting
with the 4th place team.

The Player's Edge participates in many leagues but elected
to follow a team in a Public League to better approximate what
might be faced by a wide majority of players that use the Edge
daily. This team plays in a standard 5x5 scoring format and
drafted 7th of 12 teams in a 21 round on-line live event in late
March. We'll follow this team throughout the entire 2008 fantasy
campaign.
