Roster Shuffle:
Nomar Garciaparra has been inserted in the lead off spot
by the Dodgers. He's eligible at 1B, 3B, SS which enhances
his value. Tulowitzki owners, especially, should take note.
Magglio Ordonez will play in a rehab game at Single A today
and is likely to be activated from the DL on Thursday.
Kevin Youkilis had to leave the game yesterday after being
hit in the tricep by a Daniel Cabrera pitch. It's being termed
a contusion.
Jerry Hairston Jr. strained a hamstring legging out a bunt
base hit. He had to be carried from the field and is likely to
be placed on the DL.
Roy Oswalt has already been scratched from his next start
on Friday with a sore hip. He could also see extended time
on the DL.
Pedro Martinez insists that his shoulder is fine and expects
to take his next turn after the break.
Takashi Saito is still experiencing pain in his right elbow and
is scheduled for an MRI today. It's almost a certainty that he
will be placed on the DL with Jonathan Broxton likely to close
for the Dodgers in his absence.
733. That's the number of innings used that would keep you
on track to deploy maximum innings (1250) over the course
of the season in Rotisserie. A number significantly above or
below should be a call to action.

^ -designates an active player on today's roster.
Daily Activity:
PE Drew(drop)/Hairston-Sun
PE Howry(drop)/Putz-Sun
Strategy: PE is leaning towards employing a strategy of using
closers only with an eye towards taking Saves, ERA and WHIP
in Week 16. OP has too much firepower at SP in the short week
to stream against effectively. PE has only 4 SP's on the current
roster with Harden/Weaver/Cain/Shields. OP's closers, Sherrill
/Jenks/Rodriguez are rock solid so PE will need a bit of luck in
hoping that the trio's chances are limited. Additionally, PE needs
clarity on the Mariners closer spot as having Putz and Morrow is
unproductive. The loss of Saito, particularly, hurts in a situation
like this one. PE will continue to review options as the pitching
rotations for post All Star break play are announced. Harang's
DL allows PE an additional man to be used for an offensive spot
play on Thursday. PE will focus on sweeping the offensive points.
As of today, OP will have 4 active on offense compared to 4 for
PE for Thursday. It's likely that SS Keppinger will be added for
Hairston if Jerry is placed on the DL after the evaluation of the
MRI on his hamstring today. Keppinger represents insurance
for Yunel Escobar who is also having an MRI today.
Game Keys: OP SP's Kazmir/Dempster were unable to muster a
W and the point remained tied. PE closers had 1 save to take the
point while K's, ERA/WHIP remained with PE. The offensive points
were status quo as PE put the finishing touches on a well earned
7-2 victory. This contest was much closer than the final outcome.
Final Thoughts:
PE is in 1st place by 3 points over the 2nd place club and 7 ahead
of the 3rd place team heading into a shortened Week 16 showdown
with a pitching laden OP. PE has gone 26-11-3 over the 1st 4 weeks
of the 2nd half of the season while facing the other top 3 teams in
the league.
The Player's Edge participates in many leagues but elected to
follow a team in a Public League to better approximate what might
be faced by a wide majority of players that use the Edge daily.
This team plays in a standard 5x5 scoring format and drafted 7th
of 12 teams in a 21 round on-line live event in late March. We will
follow this team throughout the entire 2008 fantasy campaign.
