Play Ball!!!!!!!!
Roster Shuffle:
Chris Young had his 1st rehab assignment at Single A Lake
Elsinore. He'll have at least 1 and possibly 2 more starts
before rejoining the Padres rotation.
Francisco Liriano is likely to be called up by the Twins in
the next week or 2. The pertinent question that needs to
be answered is what role will he play. Stay tuned.
Adam Wainwright is recovering nicely from a finger injury.
He's likely to begin a rehab assignment next week and may
be activated the 1st week of August.
Magglio Ordonez will be activated from the DL today.
Troy Tulowitzki began a 5 game rehab stint and should be
activated by the Rockies on Monday.
Alphonso Soriano is targeting July 24th for his return to
the Cubs.
Willy Taveras may have to go on the DL with a sore quad.
Johnny Damon will try to hit off a tee on Friday. If all goes
well he may be able to begin a rehab assignment next week
and return to the Yankees in time for the Red Sox series on
the 25th.
David Ortiz will be playing for Pawtucket today. He's due
back on the 25th but the Edge would not be surprised if
he returns sooner than expected.
Finally!!!!!!! Hank Blalock will be activated tomorrow and
start at 1B for the Rangers. Chris Davis is likely to be sent
back to the minors.
733. That's the number of innings used that would keep you
on track to deploy maximum innings (1250) over the course
of the season in Rotisserie. A number significantly above or
below should be a call to action.
Streamers: (tomorrow's probable starters available as free agents)
Use these players to gain advantage in wins and strikeouts.
Ricky Nolasco- is on a roll at the moment and has a favorable
opponent at home. 3-2, 4.23/1.27 with 21 k's in 28 innings vs.
the Phillies and 4-2, 3.35/1.05 in 43 frames at Dolphins Stadium.
Kevin Slowey- this is a bounce back game under a favorable star.
0-0, 1.50/.67 with 7 k's in 6 frames against the Rangers and 3-3,
4.00/1.03 with 27 k's in 36 innings at the Metrodome.
Spotties: (tomorrow's position players available as free agents)
Use these players to fill in for injured players and on off days.
Jim Edmonds- clobbers Brian Moehler, 12/34, 9 extras, 5 jacks,
with 10 rbi.
Jason Kubel- has limited exposure to Millwood but has hit him
well when presented with the opportunity. 3/7 with 2 extras.
Start/Sit: (today)
Guide to using bench players when matchups are favorable.
Troy Glaus (start)- one of an elite group that hits Jake Peavy.
5/12, 2 homers and 3 rbi.
Kevin Millar (start)- has had good AB's vs. Kenny Rogers.
3/9 with a pair of rbi.
Guide to sit starters when matchups are unfavorable.
Normally sit these players in Roto formats only
Kyle Lohse (sit)- has been outstanding but returns from the
break to face an unfavorable opponent. 0-2, 7.04/1.50 in 15
innings vs. San Diego. He has been very good at home which
is where he faces the Padres today so it's an interesting "sit".
Aubrey Huff (sit)-goes all in against the Gambler to no avail.
3/22 with 4 k's.

^ -designates an active player on today's roster.
Daily Activity:
PE Harang(DL)/Broxton-Mon
PE Saito(drop)/Gerut-Wed
PE Gerut(drop)/Keppinger-Thur
Strategy: PE will employ a closer only strategy and has Cordero
and Fuentes on the bump. OP has 3 SP's, Santana/Cueto/Lohse
and Sherrill as a counter. Both teams have 4 possible actives on
offense but PE has a question mark in Hairston. PE spot play
Gerut was used for SS Keppinger in case Hairston and Escobar
are out nursing nagging injuries. If either are active Keppinger
will be used to rebuild the SP rotation for Week 17. Possibilities
currently in free agency are Martinez, Myers and Wainwright.
Game Keys:
Final Thoughts:
PE is in 1st place by 3 points over the 2nd place club and 7 ahead
of the 3rd place team heading into a shortened Week 16 showdown
with a pitching laden OP. PE has gone 26-11-3 over the 1st 4 weeks
of the 2nd half of the season while facing the other top 3 teams in
the league.
The Player's Edge participates in many leagues but elected to
follow a team in a Public League to better approximate what might
be faced by a wide majority of players that use the Edge daily.
This team plays in a standard 5x5 scoring format and drafted 7th
of 12 teams in a 21 round on-line live event in late March. We will
follow this team throughout the entire 2008 fantasy campaign.
