Roster Shuffle:
Alphonso Soriano was activated yesterday returning
to the top of the Cubs order going 1/5 with a rbi.
Chipper Jones pulled his left hamstring running out a
ground ball. The severity of the injury is not known.
Manny Ramirez was scratched yesterday with a sore
knee. He pronounced himself questionable for the set
against the Yankees over the weekend.
Jerry Hairston Jr. was cleared to begin running and
is likely to be activated when eligible on the 29th.
Joe Crede missed his 2nd consecutive game due to
back pain and is uncertain when he'll be able play
again.
Lastings Milledge is scheduled to return in a day or
2. His performance is worth watching if you need OF
help.
Orlando Hudson is day to day after being struck by a
pitch above the right ankle on Tuesday.
Aaron Harang was ok'd to begin a throwing program
and is likely to return at some point next week.
Chris Young will rejoin the Padres rotation on Tuesday
against the D-Backs.
Fausto Carmona is on track, after a successful bullpen
session, to return to the hill on Saturday vs. the Twins.
Roy Oswalt felt fine after a 40+ pitch bullpen session
where he threw at about 75%. He's going to throw
full out on Friday which will determine whether he
can return as scheduled on the 28th against the Reds.
Kevin Millwood was forced out of yesterday's game
after aggravating a groin injury.
Tim Hudson left the game last night with tightness
in his right elbow.
Jered Weaver's sore back is feeling better and he's
likely to make his next start on Monday vs. Boston.
Pedro Martinez's father passed away after battling
a long illness. Pedro has returned to the Dominican
Republic to be with family.
Billy Wagner returned to close out the Phillies last
night.
Kerry Wood will visit a hand specialist hoping to get
some answers on why a blister on his middle finger
is not healing. He's likely to be placed on the DL.
Brandon Lyon will remain the closer for Arizona for
now. With Rauch in the wings Lyon, seemingly, is
one poor outing away from being demoted to set up.
Joel Hanrahan has been anointed by Manny Acta as
the Nationals closer.

Daily Activity:
PE Baek(drop)/Garciaparra-Sun
PE Pelfrey(drop)/Volstad-Sun
PE Volstad(drop)/Correia-Tue
PE Correia(drop)/Werth-Wed
PE Garciaparra(drop)/Rowand-Wed
PE Rowand(drop)/Carpenter-Thur
PE Werth(drop)/Baek-Thur
Strategy: PE spot plays Aaron Rowand/Jayson Werth were
dropped for SP Chris Carpenter and stream Cha Seung Baek.
As discussed Carpenter was swapped with SP Harang on the
DL. Harang is likely to be activated next week. OP sends SP's
Sheets and Oliver Perez vs. Cain for PE. Neither team has a
closer active. Both teams had a Sunday starter bumped back
until Monday. Each club has 3 starts remaining on the roster.
The game plan for the remainder of the week will be to stream
for W's and hope the offense stays hot.
Game Keys: PE SP's Shields/Correia and 4 closers combined
for 1 W, 2 Saves, allowing 6 earned on 22 whip with 17 k's in
19.1 innings. The big news was the emergence of PE's offense
which went 17/37 to put every offensive category in play. PE
has Rowand/Werth as spot plays today. OP has SP's Sheets/
Oliver Perez on the bump and their performance will determine
if PE has a chance to win a point in ERA/WHIP. The match hits
the mid-point deadlocked at 4-4.
Final Thoughts:
PE increased the 1st place lead to 5.5 points over the 2nd place
club and 8 ahead of the 3rd place team after a shortened Week
16 took it's toll on all the top teams.
The Player's Edge participates in many leagues but elected to
follow a team in a Public League to better approximate what might
be faced by a wide majority of players that use the Edge daily.
This team plays in a standard 5x5 scoring format and drafted 7th
of 12 teams in a 21 round on-line live event in late March. We will
follow this team throughout the entire 2008 fantasy campaign.
All Done!
