Roster Shuffle:

Chris Carpenter should return to the Cardinals
rotation on Tuesday the 26th.

Adam Wainwright could be back with the Cards
over the weekend. His role has yet to be defined.

Justin Duchscherer left his start last night with
a hip injury. It's the same hip that he had season
ending surgery on last season.

Eric Bedard has begun a throwing program but
there is no timetable for his return.

Billy Wagner has been examined for elbow pain
and could be out longer than expected.

Matt Capps will return to the Pirates bullpen on
Friday.

Jensen Lewis is currently the Indians closer and
can be used as a source of saves for the stretch
run.

George Sherrill has shoulder stiffness and at the
minimum will be shut down for a few days.

Brad Ziegler has displaced Huston Street as the
A's closer.

Dan Wheeler, not Grant Balfour, seems to have
assumed the role as the Rays closer.

Ian Kinsler has a sports hernia and could be done
for the season. He was placed on the DL yesterday.

Ryan Braun had to leave last night's game after a
swinging strikeout with the same issue that forced
him to miss 6 games last week. Additional details
on the severity of the injury should be available
today.

Evan Longoria is still tracking to rejoin the Rays
around September 1st.

Milton Bradley returned to active duty last night
going 1/4 with a run.

J.D. Drew sat out last night with a stiff back. He's
day to day.

Ricky Weeks was held out yesterday with a thumb
injury.

Daily Activity:

PE Marcum(drop)/Blackburn-Sun
PE Blackburn(drop)/Slowey-Mon

Strategy: PE features 3 SP's for today and tomorrow. PE
SP's Harden/Shields join stream Slowey to face Blanton for
OP. PE will send SP's Liriano/Cain/Weaver vs. OP Meche
on Wednesday. PE will have amassed 7 starts to 3 for OP
by the end of the Wednesday night's games. PE Slowey will
be used on Thursday either for another stream or a spot
play on offense depending on the status of the points week
to date. Tropical Storm Fay may cost PE a 2 start week from
Shields and AB's from Teixeira/Figgins. The game is still on
as of this moment. PE Braun went out again with the same
injury that kept him out for 6 games last week. The fact
that he aggravated the same injury makes him a likely
candidate for the DL. PE needs Braun to have any chance
to win a championship so the silver lining with this injury
is PE will probably not need his services for almost 3 weeks.

Game Keys: PE stream Blackburn got the pitcher's off to a
good start going 8 innings allowing 3 runs on 8 whip with 2
k's but could not earn a W. OP SP Guthrie was in tough vs.
the Red Sox but held his own allowing 2 runs on 10 whip in
7.1 innings. He did, however, take a loss. OP Street came on
in the 7th, as a set up reliever, lasting .1 inning yielding 1 run
on 2 whip. OP, with 1 less player on offense, was able to open
up leads in Runs/HR/RBI/BA by going 8/23 with 6 runs, 1
homer and 4 rbi. PE offense was benign going 4/22 with only
2 runs to show for the evening.

Final Thoughts:

PE increased the 1st place lead to 12.5 points over the 2nd place
club and 16 ahead of the 3rd place team heading into Week 21.
With only 20 points (2 weeks) left in the season PE will adopt a
streaming strategy while assuring roster integrity heading into
the bye week of the playoffs. If PE goes 4-16 during these final
2 weeks the 3rd place team would need to go 20-0 to tie for 2nd
place.

The Player's Edge participates in many leagues but elected to
follow a team in a Public League to better approximate what might
be faced by a wide majority of players that use the Edge daily.
This team plays in a standard 5x5 scoring format and drafted 7th
of 12 teams in a 21 round on-line live event in late March. We will
follow this team throughout the entire 2008 fantasy campaign.
