Roster Shuffle:

Ryan Braun
may end up on the DL after all. The
Brewers will make that decision on Friday. He did
say that he was feeling much better yesterday,
so stay tuned.

Josh Hamilton is likely to miss today's game as
he's at home attending to his wife and new born
baby girl.

Mike Lowell had been added to the DL with a rib
cage strain.

Jerry Hairston Jr. is still sitting although Baker
says that he getting closer to playing.

foot, the result of a foul tip.

with general soreness.

wrist by September 1st.

Carlos Guillen was scratched last night with a
sore back.

sore back.

Travis Hafner will take BP with the team today
and could begin a rehab assignment over the week

pitches in his next minor league start. Perhaps the
Cards are worried about Carpenter's shoulder and
are now willing to give Chris Perez the ball in the
9th inning.

on the knee by a line drive. He's scheduled to make
his next start on Sunday against Atlanta.

Philip Hughes should return to the Yankees rotation
on Tuesday.

Jeff Samardzija may make his 1st start on Sunday for
Cubs against the Marlins phenom Chris Volstad.

Billy Wagner begins his rehab assignment today with
20 pitches for Double A Birmingham.

Joel Zumaya is headed to the DL with a sore shoulder.

Matt Capps will continue his rehab at Double A Altoona

^ -designates an active player on today's roster.

Daily Activity:

PE Griffey(drop)/Span-Mon

Strategy: PE sends SP Shields to the hill to face Peavy
for OP. PE has 4 closers active vs. 2 for OP. PE has only
5 active players on offense today vs. a full dance card
for OP.

Game Keys: PE SP Harden was gritty but wild going 5
innings allowing 0 runs on 7 whip with 2 k's to earn a W.
PE closers added a W and a save with 4 innings of 2 run,
5 whip and 5 k's of relief work. OP lesser offensive players
like DeRosa are keeping the pressure on PE. He scored 3
runs and had a steal to augment what was a sub-standard
7/38 with 4 runs and 1 rbi for OP. PE could only muster a
10/38 but had 4 runs, 2 homers, 5 rbi and 1 steal. OP has
4 extra players active on offense today and has a chance
to gain ground in every category. The match heads to the
mid-point with PE ahead 6/2.

Final Thoughts:

PE increased the 1st place lead to 11 points over the 2nd place
club and 15.5 ahead of the 3rd place team heading into Week 20.
With only 30 points (3 weeks) left in the season PE will adopt a
conservative strategy to try to assure roster integrity heading
into the bye week of the playoffs. If PE goes 10-20 during these
final 3 weeks the 3rd place team would need to go 25-4-1 to tie
for 2nd place.

The Player's Edge participates in many leagues but elected to
follow a team in a Public League to better approximate what might
be faced by a wide majority of players that use the Edge daily.
This team plays in a standard 5x5 scoring format and drafted 7th
of 12 teams in a 21 round on-line live event in late March. We will
follow this team throughout the entire 2008 fantasy campaign.
