Roster Shuffle:

Adam Wainwright
will be activated and start
for the Cards against the Braves on Friday. That
would seem to indicate that Chris Perez will be
the Cards closer for the remainder of the year.

Billy Wagner will be out at least 3 weeks and
possibly for the season with elbow problems. Al
Reyes
was added to the bullpen and could be
used as a situational closer.

Hanley Ramirez had to leave last night with
a thumb injury. The extent of the injury should
be made available today.

Ryan Braun
sat out again with a sore ribcage.
The team is off tomorrow so the real test for
Braun will be to see if he can return on Friday.

Travis Hafner had a couple of hits in his first
rehab start and could be recalled by the Indians
next week.

Ricky Weeks returned after missing a couple
days with a sore wrist. He went 0/1 with 3 runs
and a stolen base.

^ -designates an active player on today's roster.

Daily Activity:

PE Marcum(drop)/Blackburn-Sun
PE Blackburn(drop)/Slowey-Mon
PE Slowey(drop)/Taveras-Wed

Strategy: PE has a comfortable lead in W/K and decent
advantages in Saves/ERA/WHIP with 2 starts remaining
(Harang/Harden) on the roster. OP has 4 starts to utilize
including Lowe/G. Smith today, Guthrie and Blanton on
Saturday/Sunday. PE will likely sit Harang as he's been
awful with Harden as insurance if needed should OP make
a run at W/K. Spot play Taveras will remain on the roster
in case Braun does not return on Friday.

Game Keys: PE's trio Liriano/Cain and Weaver combined
with 3 closers to earn 1 W and 1 Save hurling 21.2 frames
allowing 6 runs on 25 whip with 21 k's. OP Meche coupled
with 1 closer were quite effective allowing only 1 run on 3
whip with 11 k's but did not earn a W or Save. OP's offense
stalled somewhat going 7/31 with 3 runs, 1 homer, 1 rbi and
a steal. PE offense, without Braun, was able to muster a 7/26
with 5 runs, 7 rbi and 2 steals. The solid performance by PE
SP's and the 2 stolen bases has allowed PE to take a 6-4 lead.
PE finally registered a save but left a save from Cordero on
the table as he was benched to create a slot for an SP. The
points in Runs/RBI/BA are back in play.

Final Thoughts:

PE increased the 1st place lead to 12.5 points over the 2nd place
club and 16 ahead of the 3rd place team heading into Week 21.
With only 20 points (2 weeks) left in the season PE will adopt a
streaming strategy while assuring roster integrity heading into
the bye week of the playoffs. If PE goes 4-16 during these final
2 weeks the 3rd place team would need to go 20-0 to tie for 2nd
place.

The Player's Edge participates in many leagues but elected to
follow a team in a Public League to better approximate what might
be faced by a wide majority of players that use the Edge daily.
This team plays in a standard 5x5 scoring format and drafted 7th
of 12 teams in a 21 round on-line live event in late March. We will
follow this team throughout the entire 2008 fantasy campaign.
