Site updated by 11am EST daily.

Roster Shuffle:

John Maine
has lost velocity on his pitches as a
result of shoulder issues. This might be a blessing
for the righthander who is learning how to locate
his pitches. His velocity will probably return next
season and coupled with location will make Maine
a formidable force.

Josh Beckett has numbness and discomfort in
his right hand causing his Saturday start to be
pushed out until Tuesday.

Edinson Volquez will have his next turn moved
back one day until Saturday to give him an extra
day of rest. Adjust your rotation.

Aaron Harang had his start pushed back one day
until Friday due to neck spasms.

Billy Wagner will be out indefinitely with elbow
swelling and pain. If you need saves grab Chris
Perez
or Jensen in the short term.

George Sherrill was placed on the DL with an
inflamed left shoulder. Jim Johnson might get
the 1st opportunity to close for the Orioles.

Jason Isringhausen is done for the season as
he has what could be a career ending elbow injury.

Ryan Church has played right field in the minors
the past 2 days and may be recalled by the Mets
in the near term.

Hideki Matsui was activated from the DL and
inserted in the Yankees lineup at DH going 0/3.

J.D Drew sat out again last night with a stiff back.
He's day to day.

Alex Gordon and Placido Polanco were both
late scratches for their respective clubs last night.

Delmon Young was rested with a sore ankle. He's
day to day.

Alexi Casilla is scheduled to be activated today by
the Twins.

Milton Bradley had to leave another game, this
time with a sore knee.

Ryan Braun was out last night with a sore ribcage.
He says that he'll have to deal with this for the rest
of the season making him a risk to miss games down
the stretch.

Daily Activity:

PE Marcum(drop)/Blackburn-Sun
PE Blackburn(drop)/Slowey-Mon
PE Slowey(drop)/Taveras-Wed

Strategy: PE has 3 SP's for today, Liriano/Cain/Weaver
vs. OP Meche. PE Slowey was used for spot play Taveras
in an effort extend the lead in SB. As expected PE Braun
was sidelined with a ribcage/lower back strain. PE is vying
for 4 points, W/Saves/K/SB, which might be enough to earn
a 1st round bye in the playoffs. Currently PE controls ERA/
WHIP.

Game Keys: PE SP's Shields/Harden and Slowey combined
with 2 closers to earn 3 W's but 0 Saves throwing 24 innings
allowing 3 runs on 18 whip with 32 k's. OP Blanton coupled
with 1 closer were not able to keep pace allowing 4 runs on
9 whip with 4 k's without earning a W or Save. OP's offense
continues to rake going 11/36 with 5 runs, 1 homer and 5 rbi.
PE offense, without Braun, was able to muster a 9/30 with 4
runs, 2 rbi and 3 steals. The outstanding performance by PE
SP's and the 3 stolen bases has allowed PE to take a 5-4 lead.
Neither team has been able to register a save. OP has already
opened up significant advantages in Runs/HR/RBI/BA.

Final Thoughts:

PE increased the 1st place lead to 12.5 points over the 2nd place
club and 16 ahead of the 3rd place team heading into Week 21.
With only 20 points (2 weeks) left in the season PE will adopt a
streaming strategy while assuring roster integrity heading into
the bye week of the playoffs. If PE goes 4-16 during these final
2 weeks the 3rd place team would need to go 20-0 to tie for 2nd
place.

The Player's Edge participates in many leagues but elected to
follow a team in a Public League to better approximate what might
be faced by a wide majority of players that use the Edge daily.
This team plays in a standard 5x5 scoring format and drafted 7th
of 12 teams in a 21 round on-line live event in late March. We will
follow this team throughout the entire 2008 fantasy campaign.
