Roster Shuffle:
Billy Wagner was sent home to New York for an MRI
on his forearm after experiencing tightness.
Mariano Rivera was not available to pitch on Sunday
due to back spasms. He's day to day.
Rafael Soriano was unexpectedly disabled again with
elbow inflammation. He's likely to be shut down for the
season with the Braves out of playoff contention.
John Maine was added to the DL with a sore shoulder.
Brad Penny is slotted to return to the Dodgers rotation
on Friday against the Giants.
Dana Eveland was optioned to Triple A Sacramento to
regain his confidence after a drubbing from the Red Sox.
Brandon Morrow will become a starting pitcher at some
point this season as J.J. Putz is nearly ready to resume
closing for the Mariners.
Kerry Wood faced live hitters on Sunday and is tracking
to return later this week.
Todd Helton might be done for the season as a result
of this latest setback.
Milton Bradley took some swings in the cage indicating
that he's getting closer to returning to active duty.
Robinson Cano missed his 2nd consecutive game with a
sore hand but came off the bench in the 8th inning to play
defense and delivered a 2 run single in the same inning.
Chipper Jones is expected to return to the Braves line
up on Friday. He's on the DL with a sore quad.
Francisco Liriano returned to the majors in fine fashion
allowing 0 runs on 6 whip with 5 k's in 6 innings earning a
W vs. Cleveland.
SP's Dempster, Halladay, Lee, Cook, Haren, Cain,
Saunders, Volquez, Jurrjens, Harden, Carmona,
Webb, Chamberlain, Young, Beckett, Carpenter,
Billingsley, Floyd, Parra and Pettitte are the likely
candidates for 2 starts this week. (SP's normally start on
every 5th day so starters on Monday/Tuesday are likely
to pitch on Saturday/Sunday respectively.)
SP stream possibilities for 2 starts this week; Lannan,
Greg Smith, Garza, Redding and Moyer. Probables
are chosen based on having a favorable start on Monday
or Tuesday.
853. That's the number of innings used that would
keep you on track to deploy maximum innings (1250)
over the course of the season in Rotisserie. A number
significantly above or below should be a call to action.
Streamers: (tomorrow's probable starters available as free agents)
Use these players to gain advantage in wins and strikeouts.
John Lannan- the 5th Beatle has no record against the Rockies.
4-5, 2.57/1.23 with 50 k's in 77 innings on the road this year.
Jamie Moyer- is dominant vs. the Marlins. 10-0 3.03/.98 in
65 innings. The one caveat is that Moyer is vulnerable at home.
Spotties: (tomorrow's position players available as free agents)
Use these players to fill in for injured players and on off days.
Ryan Raburn- has a good approach vs. Gavin Floyd. 5/12 with
3 stolen bases.
Luke Scott- has limited exposure to Garland but has hit him
well. 3/8 with a jack and 0 k's.
Start/Sit: (today)
Guide to using bench players when matchups are favorable.

^ -designates an active player on today's roster.
Daily Activity:
PE Slowey(drop)/Liriano-Sat
Strategy: Week 19 OP has 17 starts on the roster beginning
with Saunders/Parra/Jimenez/Haren today. PE will send Matt
Cain to the bump with the express purpose of having a low ERA
/WHIP 6+ inning outing vs. the Braves. If Cain succeeds PE will
be able to play for a save and shutdown the pitching which will
likely secure the points in Saves/ERA and WHIP for the week.
Both teams have 7 potential actives on offense today.
Game Keys: PE SP Liriano was able to muster a W allowing
PE to secure the point and control all 5 pitching categories. PE
offense did just enough at 12/37 with 8 runs, 3 homers and 9
rbi to take everything except BA on the road to a 9-1 victory.
Final Thoughts:
PE increased the 1st place lead to 11 points over the 2nd place
club and 14.5 ahead of the 3rd place team heading into Week 19.
There are only 40 points (4 weeks) left in the season so PE needs
to focus on playing consistently to assure a playoff bye.
The Player's Edge participates in many leagues but elected to
follow a team in a Public League to better approximate what might
be faced by a wide majority of players that use the Edge daily.
This team plays in a standard 5x5 scoring format and drafted 7th
of 12 teams in a 21 round on-line live event in late March. We will
follow this team throughout the entire 2008 fantasy campaign.
All Done!
