Site updated by 11am EST daily.
Roster Shuffle:
Josh Beckett's next start has been pushed back
from Tuesday until Friday.
Shaun Marcum has been optioned to Triple A
after a poor outing on Friday.
Brandon Morrow is stretching out in Triple A.
He went 4.1 innings allowing 2 hits and struck
out 10 while throwing 73 pitches yesterday. He
should enter the Mariners rotation around the
1st and could be a solid starter for the stretch
run. You may want to pick him up next week.
Chris Young is chafing to pitch again for the
Padres. He should be back in a week or so.
Joba Chamberlain threw 35 pitches off of a
mound. He's still about a week from facing live
hitters.
Philip Hughes allowed 8 runs on 10 hits in 3.1
innings for Triple A Scranton. Obviously he's not
ready for the big show.
Rookie of the year candidate OF David Murphy
took BP and is targeting Sept. 1st for a return.
He was hitting .275 with 64 runs, 15 homers, 74
rbi and 7 steals before going on the DL.
Hanley Ramirez is better but was not ready to
play yesterday. He's day to day so check Florida's
box before benching the All Star.
Ian Kinsler intends to return to action from a
sports hernia on or about September 5th.
Victor Martinez is scheduled to rejoin the Tribe
on Wednesday.
Nate McLouth is still out with a virus but is close
to returning so check the Pirates box today.
Derrek Lee left yesterday's game with back spasms.
He's day to day.

Daily Activity:
PE Marcum(drop)/Blackburn-Sun
PE Blackburn(drop)/Slowey-Mon
PE Slowey(drop)/Taveras-Wed
PE Taveras(drop)/Dickerson-Thur
OP Isringhausen(drop)/Franklin-Sat
Strategy: PE will continue to sit all pitching. OP has
added setup pitcher Ron Franklin for Isringhausen.
PE may be able to clinch a bye in the playoffs by the
conclusion of today's action which would make Week
22's outcome meaningless.
Week 22 OP will make the playoffs as either the 3rd
or 4th place team. OP offense features Vlad Guerrero
and Hanley Ramirez with a supporting cast of Mauer,
Huff, Reynolds, Conor Jackson, Damon and Winn. OP
has some power, good speed and the opportunity to hit
for average. Although there is good balance OP needs 5
or 6 guys to step up each week and perform well. OP
pitching has only 4 SP's, Nolasco, Halladay, Wainwright
and Volstad which makes OP a dangerous opponent in
the playoffs because of the ERA tiebreaker. OP has 2
closers, Soria/B. Wilson and 2 set up relievers Rauch/
Kuo. Obviously, this OP is vulnerable in W/Saves/K
but you'll have to win 3 offensive points because of the
ERA tiebreaker if you want to get by this team in the
playoffs.
Game Keys: OP SP Guthrie had a tough opponent with
the Yankees going 6.2 innings allowing 5 runs on 8 whip
with 7 k's and was denied the W. OP Derrek Lee continued
his afternoon delight going 1/3 with a run and an rbi to aid
the offense in going 8/34 with 9 runs, 2 homers and 8 rbi.
PE offense continues to outperform OP combining for 14/
34 with 7 runs, 3 homers and 9 rbi. Every offensive point
is still in play with PE controlling all of the pitching points.
PE leads 8-2 heading into today's finale.
Final Thoughts:
PE increased the 1st place lead to 12.5 points over the 2nd place
club and 16 ahead of the 3rd place team heading into Week 21.
With only 20 points (2 weeks) left in the season PE will adopt a
streaming strategy while assuring roster integrity heading into
the bye week of the playoffs. If PE goes 4-16 during these final
2 weeks the 3rd place team would need to go 20-0 to tie for 2nd
place.
The Player's Edge participates in many leagues but elected to
follow a team in a Public League to better approximate what might
be faced by a wide majority of players that use the Edge daily.
This team plays in a standard 5x5 scoring format and drafted 7th
of 12 teams in a 21 round on-line live event in late March. We will
follow this team throughout the entire 2008 fantasy campaign.
All Done!
