^ -designates an active player on today's roster.
Daily Activity:
PE Griffey(drop)/Span-Mon
Strategy: The SP's take center stage today with 3 for
PE(Liriano/Weaver/Cain) squaring off against 4 for OP
(Maddox/Moyer/Garza/Jurrjens). PE will sit J.J. Putz
to accommodate the starting rotation. OP will have 2
more starts on the roster compared to 1 for PE for the
remainder of the week. PE either needs Braun to play
or be placed on the DL today as PE SS Yunel Escobar
is likely to sit today with a swollen elbow after being
hit by a pitch last night. All the offensive points are in
play and PE needs the AB's.
Game Keys: PE SP Shields was awful yesterday going
5 innings allowing 4 earned on 10 whip with only 3 k's.
OP Peavy was solid going 7 frames allowing 1 run on 7
whip with 8 k's while earning a W. PE Cordero picked
up a save. PE leads W/Saves by 1 in each category and
maintains a 4 K lead but has 2 fewer starts on the roster.
OP had a 3 hitter advantage but misfired going 6/24. PE
went 6/16 with a homer from Kemp. The contest heads
into the turn with PE precariously ahead 7-2 with all 10
categories in play.
Final Thoughts:
PE increased the 1st place lead to 11 points over the 2nd place
club and 15.5 ahead of the 3rd place team heading into Week 20.
With only 30 points (3 weeks) left in the season PE will adopt a
conservative strategy to try to assure roster integrity heading
into the bye week of the playoffs. If PE goes 10-20 during these
final 3 weeks the 3rd place team would need to go 25-4-1 to tie
for 2nd place.
The Player's Edge participates in many leagues but elected to
follow a team in a Public League to better approximate what might
be faced by a wide majority of players that use the Edge daily.
This team plays in a standard 5x5 scoring format and drafted 7th
of 12 teams in a 21 round on-line live event in late March. We will
follow this team throughout the entire 2008 fantasy campaign.
All Done!
