Fantasy Player's Edge

2008 Fantasy Football Player's Edge (regular season):

http://fantasyfootballplayersedge.blogspot.com

Roster Shuffle:

Josh Beckett
is still on track to make a start on
Friday.

Ben Sheets left his start yesterday with a groin
strain. The extent of the injury should be known
today but it's thought to be a mild strain.

Carlos Zambrano will take the ball today vs.
the Astros. He missed a start on Sunday with a
tired arm.

Justin Duchscherer suffered a setback as his
hip acted up after a side session jeopardizing a
planned start over the weekend.

Chris Carpenter was activated yesterday and
will pitch out of the Cardinals bullpen for the rest
of the season. He has little value as a reliever.

Chris Young was activated by the Padres and
faced the Dodgers. The big righthander went 5
innings allowing 4 runs on 9 whip with 3 k's. In
reality it was the equivalent of a rehab start.

Aaron Harang will pitch today with Edinson
Volquez pitching on Wednesday. Adjust your
rotation if necessary.

Bartolo Colon pitched yesterday for Triple A
Pawtucket. He's targeting a September 13 return
as the Red Sox play a doubleheader on that day.
He could be useful for the stretch run if you need
SP.

Takashi Saito is nearing a return to the Dodgers
bullpen. Broxton has been terrific as the closer
and is likely to remain in that role with Saito as
setup.

Huston Street wants to close but that will not
happen this season in Oakland as Geren is happy
with Brad Ziegler in that role.

Jon Rauch is available to pitch for the D-Backs
after sitting out a couple of days with tightness
in his forearm.

Carlos Beltran bruised his knee colliding with
an umpire at home plate while scoring a run. He
had to leave the game and is day to day.

Travis Hafner will not be called up from the
minors at this point. His shoulder is still not right.

Casey Kotchman has been activated from the
bereavement list after spending 11 days with his
ailing mother.

Justin Upton was hit in the head on a pick off
attempt and left the game against the Cards.

Ken Griffey Jr. was a late scratch with lower
back pain. It's not believed to be serious but he
is likely to miss a few games.

Jeff Kent had season ending surgery and should
be dropped if still on any roster.

Kevin Youkilis returned after missing 2 games
with the flu.

Mike Lowell has been taking BP but there is still
no timetable for his return.

Jarrod Saltalamacchia had to leave with a sore
elbow.

Andruw Jones was activated by the Dodgers and
may vulture a few AB's from Matt Kemp.

Final Thoughts
:

PE has won the league and earned a 1st round bye in the playoffs.

The Player's Edge participates in many leagues but elected to
follow a team in a Public League to better approximate what might
be faced by a wide majority of players that use the Edge daily.
This team plays in a standard 5x5 scoring format and drafted 7th
of 12 teams in a 21 round on-line live event in late March. We will
follow this team throughout the entire 2008 fantasy campaign.
