2008 Fantasy Football Player's Edge (regular season):

http://fantasyfootballplayersedge.blogspot.com

Roster Shuffle:

Tony LaRussa
is leaning towards using Chris
Carpenter
as a closer for the remainder of the
season. It's not clear whether he'll work back to
back games.

Carlos Zambrano threw lightly on Sunday. He
experienced no issues and hopes to return over
the weekend.

Jered Weaver was skipped tonight because of
the cuts on his fingers. He's day to day.

Jeremy Guthrie was skipped as well due to the
flu. He should return to the rotation in a few days
but has lost a 2 start week for his owners.

Matt Lindstrom will continue to close for Florida
even if Kevin Gregg is activated today.

B.J. Upton left last night's game with a strained
quad. The severity of the injury should be made
available today.

Mike Cameron returned to action last night. He
went 1/4.

Jerry Hairston Jr. has been activated from the
DL by the Reds. He's a good add if you need some
versatility that includes SS.

Milton Bradley is expected to rejoin the Rangers
today.

Ryan Theriot had a stomach virus and is day to
day. Check the Cubs box to make certain that he's
active.

Spot play supreme Ty Wigginton will be out 8-10
days with a strained groin.

J.D Drew was activated by the Red Sox yesterday.

^ -designates an active player on today's roster.

Daily Activity:

Strategy: PE sends 5 closers to face off against OP
Volstad, 2 closers and 2 set up relievers. PE Weaver
was scratched from his start with cuts on his fingers.
He's day to day. Depending on tonight's results PE is
considering a streaming play by dropping Weaver. PE
has to take W/K/Saves to have a chance to succeed
in the semifinals. PE has 7 starts on the roster with
OP having 5. PE offense needs to take 3 categories
as well and future strategy may revolve around an
offensive play on Thursday when PE will have 7
active vs. 7 for OP.

Game Keys: OP offense got off to a quick start going
14/33 with 9 runs, 2 homers, 7 rbi and a stolen base.
PE offense was short 2 hitters but managed to keep
pace despite going 5/21 with 7 runs, 1 homer, 5 rbi
and 3 stolen bases. PE Cordero had a save and was
the only pitcher on either side to see any action. The
match heats up in earnest today.

Final Thoughts
:

PE has won the league and enters the semifinals of the playoffs.

The Player's Edge participates in many leagues but elected to
follow a team in a Public League to better approximate what might
be faced by a wide majority of players that use the Edge daily.
This team plays in a standard 5x5 scoring format and drafted 7th
of 12 teams in a 21 round on-line live event in late March. We will
follow this team throughout the entire 2008 fantasy campaign.

All Done!
