2008 Fantasy Football Player's Edge (regular season):

http://fantasyfootballplayersedge.blogspot.com

Roster Shuffle:

Travis Hafner
hit homers in consecutive games
in Double A. His minor league eligibility has run
out leaving the Indians to decide whether to bring
him up or let him play simulated games for awhile.
He's likely to be activated tomorrow.

Nate McLouth left in the 4th inning when he was
hit in the face by a ball while attempting a diving
catch.

Howie Kendrick took grounders and is likely to
run today. There's no timetable for his return but
it should be reasonably soon.

Kaz Matsui is due to return to the Astros lineup
today.

Kenji Johjima will pick up AB's as rookie Jeff
Clement
is done for the season.

Billy Wagner is probably done for the season after
experiencing elbow discomfort during a simulated
game.

1096. That's the number of innings used that would
keep you on track to deploy maximum innings (1250)
over the course of the season in Rotisserie. A number
significantly above or below should be a call to action.

Streamers: (tomorrow's probable starters available as free agents)

Use these players to gain advantage in wins and strikeouts.

Chris Volstad- has a good opponent on the road
where he's excelled this season. 1-0, 0.00/1.17 in
6 innings vs. the Phillies and 3-1, 2.25/1.21 with
18 k's in 28 frames away from home this season.

Nick Blackburn- welcomes the Royals to into
the Metrodome. 0-0, 1.64/1.18 in 11 innings.

Spotties: (tomorrow's position players available as free agents)

Use these players to fill in for injured players and on off days.

Jeremy Hermida- kills Kendrick. 4/11 with a bomb.

Alex Casilla- bashes Bannister. 3/8 with an rbi.

^ -designates an active player on today's roster.

Daily Activity:

Strategy: The initial strategy will be to focus on W/K/
Saves as this OP has only 5 starts on the roster and will
be tough to beat in ERA/WHIP. Neither team has an SP
going today with PE having 2 closers vs. 1 closer and 2
set up relievers for OP. OP has 9 active on offense to
7 for PE. PE has to play for Runs/SB/HR on offense to
offset a possible ERA tiebreaker. Strategy will likely
change from day to day depending on game results.

Semifinal OP is the same club PE beat 5-4 in the last
week of the regular season. OP offense features Vlad
Guerrero and Hanley Ramirez with a supporting cast
of Mauer, Huff, Reynolds, Conor Jackson, Damon and
Winn. OP has some power, good speed and can hit for
average. Although there is good balance OP needs 5
or 6 guys to step up each week and perform well. OP
pitching has only 4 SP's, Nolasco, Halladay, Wainwright
and Volstad which makes OP a dangerous opponent in
the playoffs because of the ERA tiebreaker. OP has 2
closers, Soria/B. Wilson and 2 set up relievers Rauch/
Kuo. Obviously, this OP is vulnerable in W/Saves/K
but PE has to target 3 offensive points because of the
ERA tiebreaker.

Final Thoughts
:

PE has won the league and enters the semifinals of the playoffs.

The Player's Edge participates in many leagues but elected to
follow a team in a Public League to better approximate what might
be faced by a wide majority of players that use the Edge daily.
This team plays in a standard 5x5 scoring format and drafted 7th
of 12 teams in a 21 round on-line live event in late March. We will
follow this team throughout the entire 2008 fantasy campaign.
